How I started making lampwork glass beads and jewellery:
My name is Catherine Wright and I first started making lampwork glass beads about 5 years ago.                                                                           I live in Southbourne, Dorset, where I have a shed in the garden for melting glass and making the resulting beads into jewellery. I love the way glass glows and becomes like thick honey when it melts. Using tools and gravity to persuade the glass to go where you want, takes concentration and I love to get into that creative "zone", where I lose all track of time! (My partner Ant and daughter Annabelle may not enjoy that aspect quite so much!)                                                                                                   My style is colourful, simple and cheerful. I use a lot of surface decoration and contrasting colour schemes in my beads, which are set off elegantly with classic silver plated findings, leather or silk ribbons. I mainly sell my work through personal contacts, but in 2014, I hope to do one or two craft fairs and set up an on-line shop.
